SSCPDHG17-17.8gm17.8 Gram Rough Australian Opal-Dead Horse Gully-Coober Pedy
Dead Horse Gully Opalfield, discovered in 1972, sits by itself about 20km NW of Coober Pedy. It's almost an anomaly as it's so isolated...maybe there's hope for more fields in the area. And Dead Horse is famous for it's dark base opal similar to Allan's Rise.
Big, bright, beautiful single rough opal. I've cut away part of the potch, left the color, face polished both ends and a bit of the side to better show how well this delightful rough opal faces.
17.8 grams or 89 carats. Dimensions: 30mm x 28mm x 21mm thick. Scale=20mm.
