In 1977 part of the Coober Pedy Precious Stones Field, really portions of the Shellpatch Opalfield about 22 miles north of Coober Pedy, were prohibited from mining because of Aboriginal cultural importance.

This parcel of 2 opals is from this newly reopened area.
Bright kicky multi-colored medium sized stones with easily cut slab-like shapes...as the photos show.

3.3gm-25mm x 16mm x 7.0mm thick
3.3gm-19mm x 17mm x 7.5mm thick
