SSB224.3 Gram (21.5ct) Australian Rough Opal Belemnite
I do love Belemnites!! These fossils lived in an inland sea about 100 million years ago during the cretaceous period. These gemmy little opal fossils are found in weathered Bulldog Shale at the Shellpatch Field 30 kilometers north of Coober Pedy. Green/orange/gold pinfire in classic Coober Pedy whited based opal. A very nice solid stone (no fractures ) with a bit of irregularity on the back side that could be contoured out or ground flat for a bezel setting. 4.3 grams. 35mm long by 10mm x 9mm in diameter. Scale=20mm.
