I love cutting cabochons and as well as opal carving, fortunately I did get to polish a slightly domed window on this gem and it was almost as rewarding as polishing a cabochon. Lovely, lovely dark base opal with big splashes of scarlet red, gold, green and a flash of blue. No fractures or internal matrix observed and I've removed all but a slight amount of matrix.
Dimensions: 29mm x 22mm x 14mm thick.
7.9 grams or 39.5 carats.
